GU Boo : A New 0 . 6 M ⊙ Detached Eclipsing Binary
We have found a new low-mass, double-lined, detached eclipsing binary, GU Boo, among a sample of new variables from the ROTSE-I database. The binary has an orbital period of 0.488728 ± 0.000002 days, and estimated apparent magnitudes Vrotse ≃ 13.7 and I ≃ 11.8. Our analysis of the light and radial velocity curves of the system yields individual masses and radii of M1= 0.610 ± 0.007 M⊙, M2= 0.59...
متن کاملGlobular Cluster Ages from Main Sequence Fitting and Detached, Eclipsing Binaries: The Case of 47 Tuc
Age constraints are most often placed on globular clusters by comparing their CMDs with theoretical isochrones. The recent discoveries of detached, eclipsing binaries in such systems by the Cluster AgeS Experiment (CASE) provide new insights into their ages and, at the same time, much needed tests of stellar evolution models. We describe efforts to model the properties of the detached, eclipsin...
متن کاملDetached white dwarf main-sequence star binaries
We initiated a comprehensive state of the art binary population synthesis study of white dwarf main-sequence star (WDMS) binaries to serve as a foundation for subsequent studies on pre-cataclysmic variables, double white dwarfs, and white dwarf + B-star binaries. We considered seven distinct formation channels subdivided into three main groups according to the evolutionary process that gives ri...
متن کاملRXJ 0529 . 4 + 0041 : a low – mass pre – main sequence eclipsing – spectroscopic binary ?
We report the discovery of a low–mass pre-main sequence eclipsing system among a sample of double-lined spec-troscopic binaries found recently on the basis of ROSAT follow-up observations in the Orion star forming region. From the analysis of the available photometric and spectro-scopic data, we derive orbital elements as well as fundamental stellar parameters for the individual components of t...
متن کاملDetection of intrinsic variability in the eclipsing massive main-sequence O+B binary HD 165246
We present the analysis of 29.77 d of K2 space photometry of the well-detached massive 4.6 d O+B binary HD 165246 (V = 7.6) obtained during Campaign 9b. This analysis reveals intrinsic variability in the residual light curve after subtraction of the binary model, in the frequency range [0, 10] d−1. This makes HD 165246 only the second O+B eclipsing binary with asteroseismic potential. While som...
